1970

BWO control concept

The BWO control concept is based on the expertise of Heckler & Koch Maschinenbau, which developed the first electronic controls for the company’s machine tools and special machines back in 1970.

1991

Takeover by BWO

BWO takes over the know-how, the manufacturing and development team and the production facilities of Heckler & Koch Elektronik. At this time, more than 15,000 of the company’s control systems are already in use worldwide. The focus is on the automotive industry and mechanical engineering.

1998

Control system evolution to touchscreen interfaces

BWO is one of the first suppliers worldwide to include a touchscreen interface in its control systems, making the control system even more user-friendly and optimizing adaptation to the machine environment.

2012

Acquisition by the Merkel Group

BWO Elektronik GmbH is acquired by the Merkel Group, Suhl. Merkel is part of the international Tawazun Group (UAE).

2014

VEKTOR

BWO presents the new VEKTOR controller family. These are high-performance CNC controls for complex machines and applications. The successful basis of the BWO controls is retained: The new controls are compatible with the CNC 900 system. BWO also remains true to its other corporate virtues: the development, production, assembly, programming and testing of all components has been carried out in-house in Oberndorf am Neckar since the company was founded.

2024

Takeover by Moroff Holding GmbH

BWO Elektronik GmbH is taken over by the family-run Moroff Holding GmbH from Hermaringen. BWO Elektronik GmbH becomes BWO Electronic GmbH.
The focus is now back on long-term growth and the further development of the proven control system.
